How to make the Gallery app re-scan the directories?

$

0
I haven't been using the phone for a while, and now I can't see the old photos in the DCIM directory, only the ones that I have taken freshly, and the (old) videos.

Yes, I've checked, the files are there.

Is there any way to make the Gallery app to re-reead the DCIM dir so I can see all the pics?

It also might (but not necessarily) have something to do with the Drop Cache app that I've found on the Warehouse that I've found earlier there, probably run and forgot about it

[N9] Borked Accelerometer, solutions??v // setting up in 2017

Hi guys,

I got a N9, finally.
However when I received it today it kept switching to landscape when possible. After installing Sensor Gallery I noticed that x and y axes are stuck. Probably damaged accelerometer.

X = stuck on 22.45
Y = stuck on -22.45
Z = working and seeing normal values.

Is there a way to override these values or to lock the UI to a certain orientation? Or would removing the battery possibly reset the accelerometer?

Any must-have apps and pointers what I can do with this device are welcome too

And has someone the L1-4 service Manual of the N9?

Jolla Phone - password no longer works in terminal

Before the most recent update I could go into settings->developer mode->turn on remote connection, enter and save a password and then that password would work with the su command in the terminal. Now no matter what I do the terminal always returns an 'Incorrect password' error message. Has that been deliberately locked down?

All I really want to do is install python 2.7

CSSU/NITDroid/Alarm triple boot?

Has anyone managed to pull this off?

I've tried many times, running into various pitfalls like dependency problems between CSSU Thumb and U-Boot (namely kernel-(CSSU)-modules) and U-Boot successfully accessing NITDroid kernel but then shutting device off without warning.

Any tips/experiences/ideas?

Apple rant

So years ago I set up an Apple ID to apply for a job there.

Last week I get an email that somebody logged into my Apple ID and is using it on Icloud and on their Iphone 6...

Then I get an email that they changed the password and security questions...

I go and change the password back, then try to change the security questions and guess what, in order to change them, you need to know the answers... WUT

I call and tell the support people what is going on and they tell me "what is the answers to your security questions?"

LOL are you kidding me??? I already told you they changed them.

So I said, I applied for a job there, look at my saved resume and I can verify my identity through that, they say we dont have access.

So after going round and round, I said you know what, I am never going to own an Apple product, so I dont care.

What a waste of time and I cant believe how terrible their support is.

Nokia N9 wont auto-connect to wifi?

For what ever reason, ever since i reflashed my Nokia N9, it just wont play ball on it's own, with any WiFi. I have the manual / auto switch set to auto for, for example, my home network, and, if i set the switch, when not in the area of said network, the setting sticks. I can reboot the phone, and it's still there.

As soon as i try to make use of the network, the setting "unsticks", and the network goes back to being manually used. I can connect just fine by opening the list over available networks, and tell it to connect, so the details seam to be right.

Tested with: a number of different networks.
Tried fix: reflashing again. Same same. Did use the same files for reflashing.
As far as i know the flashing is done with a image for a different region, but otherways "the correct" image. The one for my region seams... unavailable.

Ideas for a fix? Not that it is critical by any means, but it seams... weird.

Tizen United States Launch!

The Tizen powered Samsung Z2. This means Tizen services could be available in America. You could buy the higher Z3 or Z4 and have it be usable in the US. Americans could potentially have an alternative to Android and iOs. Overall Tizen is still looking like the best Android and iOs competitor, soon it will overtake Windows Phone just at it Blackberry 10. Samsung achieved modest success with Bada and they can achieve similar success with Tizen.

[HOWTO REQUEST] Build packages update

Hello!

I'am newbie in Maemo, but I have a small experience in Linux. And I want to update some packages in extras-repo.

I compiled new htop, curl, wget, zsh, make and some other apps on my n900 and they works great. Compilation on n900 very slow, need free space and I moved to cross-compilation.

Firstly, I installed and configured crosstool-ng, package for cross-compilation. It easy to use and using modern compilators and libs. But so much modern - many apps was need modern glibc or ncurses, for example. I built it, move to my N900, reboot and never boot up :)

Secondly, I tried to install scratchbox: find Debian Lenny distro, install, find needs repos archive, install and configure. But updated apps need updated libs - in scratchbox its outdated. I successfully compiled new Busybox-power, but can't make package - dpkg-buildpackage crash with "getopt not found". Getopt installed. I try to update perl and getopt for it, but this not resolve problem. I tried to google, google and google, but can't find answer. I spened on trying to build two weeks already and do not know what to do next.

Can advanced user make how-to or step-by-step example of packages update, please?

p.s. Sorry for my english :)

Medion LifeTab S10366

Today i got something very special on my Operational-Table:

MEDION LifeTab S10366

For all, who are not from Germany: Medion is an Lenovo Daughter company, which sell cheap Electronics in Germany and some other European countries.

Many Medion-Devices are absolute rubbish, but some are really interesting.

Like this LifeTab S10366
This Is an Intel Baytrail FullHD-Tablet, based on the same HW like Jolla Tablet JT-1501 and Aigo X86 Tablets.

The Adroid Base is the same: anzhen4_mrd8 but Lifetab has Android 5.1.1 installed

There are a couple of differences, like the Display resolution, additional Mini-HDMI-Video-Output etc.

But, i a, pretty sure, JT-1501 Sailfish Image can be installed on it after some modifications.

For all, who is interested, i can provide additional information

Documenting devices with mainline Linux support - Help needed

$

Some of you have already seen my recent rants [1] [2] [3] on how the Xperia X and the Gemini PDA use Linux kernels that originate from ASOP. It's a source of frustration for me that I still can't pick up a mobile phone and install whatever Linux distro I like, as I can with a PC. Whilst I think libhybris is a wonderful achievement, I can't help but think a solution that is tailored towards Android hardware adaption does not help us in the long term as it embraces Android blobs and encourages the use of old Linux kernels from ASOP. I want to evolve my DebiaN900 project into something bigger but it's just not possible to build a secure OS for mobile devices by using EOL/unsupported Linux kernels from ASOP on Android devices with planned obsolescence.

Let's forget about which devices are supported by CyanogenMod/LineageOS for a moment and think about which devices are actually supported by Linux. I decided to do a bit of investigation to find out what mobile devices have at least some mainline kernel support. I've started by looking at the device trees included in mainline Linux. I've made a list, which may not be complete but at least it's a start.

Only a few of these devices have comprehensive public documentation on what hardware works and what doesn't. I'd like to start documenting the other devices.

I want to hear from anyone who has tried running a mainline kernel on any of these devices where documentation it lacking, even if it's with Android with mainline Linux. I plan to create a wiki page with a table similar to what Mer have done for their libhybris adaptations to provide a simple comparison of what is supported on each device. I'm more interested in documenting mobile phones over tablets and other devices but if anyone fancies helping with those, I won't stop them. :P I don't know if I've found every single mobile device with a device tree in mainline. If you find one I've missed, please let me know.

It should also be noted that mainline Linux also includes support for many SoCs for other popular mobile phones (Samsung, etc). These have device trees for development boards but are missing device trees for phones. It may not require much effort to get some of these phones working.

Hello fellow maemoers!

Times are difficult and this means digging up money where ever you can.

My beloved N900 is for sale

If that is not too much I would like to get 50 pounds for this device.

EU shipping included in those 50 pounds.

I think that this is a fair price.

Prefered direct account money transfer. PayPayl is also accepted.

Better quality pictures can be send if needed - request via PM.
